I’m obsessed… and I always tell myself “Shan.. there is no norm, and this helps in releasing my creativity.
I’ve always loved looking at Paintings, and wanted to find a way to create what I saw using the medium of photography.
Photography + Art = Phart….. Sigh maybe that word will fit soon
First trip to the Motherland, and might I add it was an amazing trip. Travelling to Ghana and returning back to London really reminded me of the beauty of spontaneity. Yes planning is great… but you know whats just as great just grabbing your friend, a camera, some lighting, whipping on a green blazer and simply creating for the pure joy of creating.

Can I just begin by saying being part of this project has been phenomenal!
I was given the opportunity to produce some photos for this wonderful new Author Sarah Aluko who has written a book which includes a collection of poetry. The book covers areas of self discovery, the journey back to self and self love. I think what made this collaboration so great was the fact that Sarah and I always had a similar mindset when it came to ideas. We'd save the same images from Pinterest and end up sending each other the same things.
During the time spent photographing her I began to realise this wasn't just me producing a simple photograph, but a message. Sarah not only expresses herself in her book but she is an individual that expresses so much in front of the camera (although she may not realise it) especially in the eyes.
Effortless
She speaks on behalf of every woman, every mother, every sister, every daughter in parts of her book I saw myself in many different stages of life, I was able to identify and I feel that's what makes this whole project so 'dope' if I can say to be a part of.

This one was a truck load of fun, my first time not working with natural lighting, had the opportunity to work with a great team and I must say was extremely happy with the results.
